My Ruminations on the All-Star Game

You know what I forgot?

That it takes 1 frickin’ hour for the game to actually start.

We had this:

And that:

And this (I really, don’t care much for Sheryl Crow but I understand she’s from MO):

“All-Star Game 2009 starts at 8PM EST”

Yea right.

Anyway, admittedly I was a little nervous this year since the NL team had some amazing players but…….

……..AL WON!

…………………..aaaaaaaaagain!  ♥

Mostly thanks to this guy:

If it weren’t for him, we probably have gone into extra innings. Or worse! AL might have lost!

These guys:

Ultimately, both of their performances were extremely questionable. Understandably no one gives it their all at the All-Star Game but really? It seemed like Lincecum was a lot more disappointing though.

First this:

(Mariners represeeeeeeent ♥ Felix too! Oh and skipper Wakamatsu!)

And then Lincecum HIT DEREK JETER! What the FRICK?!

Alas, this was what he got for doing that:

As much as I dislike the Yankees, Jeter has always been an exception since he’s absolutely legendary (plus him and Ichiro are always, always on my fantasy team). So Lincecum frickin’ ticked me off when he did that.

Hey Lincecum, maybe if you cut your hair you can see where you’re throwing?

I’m glad Crawford got the MVP, it was definitely deserved. Although, if I could give a runner-up MVP I would give it to Curtis Granderson. His triple really hyped up the whole game. Plus, me being in Detroit right now, it’s nice to know the home-team All-Stars made a difference…. just like Inge did in the Home Run Derby.

My NL MVP would be David Wright. He did get a hit and a run, but mostly because (this is where the girly girl in me comes out) he’s so damn nice to look at. Even his horribly read Disney movie G-Force commercial was adorable. He’s the only person in this world that can say “holla!” and not sound like an idiot ♥.

That was a fun All-Star game! Although as a Mariners fan, I’m gonna have to say the All-Star Game in SF was a lot better. :]

I cannot believe baseball season is already half over, how depressing :[

It’s ok though, it’s time to get ready for the 2nd half and crossing my fingers that the M’s do some damage in the AL WEST!

Go Team AL!

02_mlb_all_star.jpgSo my hair appointment went great and I got home just in time for the Derby! :]

Congrats to Prince Fielder!

He was my top contestant to win the Derby so that was pretty exciting…

…but for some reason it wasn’t as amazing as I remember it. Is it just me?

Or is it because Hamilton had that amazing feat last year?

I didn’t stay up to watch the celebrity game; it doesn’t interest me to watch celebrities play baseball, plus it was bed-time for this girl.

Today I have no plans after work other than hitting the gym so I’ll be free and ready to watch my favorite baseball event (second to Opening Day…..and of course the WS if the Mariners were in it :] )!

Go AL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a non-festive note, did everyone hear about Billy Koch (or even remember him?)?

The former Toronto pitcher got arrested in Florida a couple nights ago for criminal mischief and battery!

Apparently him and his wife were confronting their neighbors over an issue with his step-child. Koch swung at his neighbor and punched his lips while his neighbor tried to defend himself with a baseball bat…..which Koch took and used it to pull some damage on that neighbor’s car.

I guess he has already bonded out of jail, but sheesh! The weird thing is, this happened at 2am? Who confronts their neighbors at 2am?

I used to have him on my fantasy team and I’ve actually wondered where he disappeared to.

Let the red carpet roll to St.Louis

….for a party of two.

Though not surprised about Ichiro’s repeat attendance to the All-Star game, I’m still excited and finally relaxed to know it’s confirmed. Despite his DL term in the beginning of this season, he’s caught up fairly quickly with fantastic stats…as usual. Remember last year’s game?

I do. He won that ridiculously unmatching pick-up.

Watching Ichiro since his professional baseball debut in Japan for the Orix Blue Waves and moving to Seattle the same year he did, I guarantee you he is not rolling around downtown Seattle in that Dodge pick-up. That would be a funny image though.

Also, King Felix! His first All-Star invitation. This year he definitely deserved that call. I’m sure other Seattleites are happy to see him join Ichiro in St.Louis.

On a non-Mariners issue, I am very pleased to see Ibanez taking top spot for the NL OF spot! Sad to see him gone but going to the Phillies really did him some good. Even though I’m all about the AL, I’ll secretly be cheering for Rauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuul!

Oh and David Wright. Actually he’s just nice to look at; doesn’t matter to me if he does well or not.

I’m actually pretty unhapy with what went on with the AL 2nd baseman results. Sure, the Rangers are our arch nemisis but I was really hoping for Kinsler. Plus Pedroia just crawls under my skin. I think Kinsler is a fantastic ball player and deserves to get the call for the All-Star game. I’m definitely voting Kinsler for the last man standing! (But at work I just say I vote for Inge or else they’ll try to maul me).

And with all that said, I’m VERY excited for next Monday/Tuesday!
